Zimbabwe is one of the most fascinating and still little-discovered travel destinations in southern Africa. Mighty rivers, thundering waterfalls, pristine national parks and a welcoming population — this trip is no ordinary vacation. It is a real adventure.
The trip
This 21-day adventure starts and ends in Victoria Falls. With off-road vehicles, a boat and on foot on a wilderness trek, we experience the beauty of northern Matabeleland in Zimbabwe.
Travelers will be from Oliver Beccarelli & Corinne Anliker received personally and accompanied throughout the trip. The vehicles are driven together as a self-drive trip.
The 7 stations
1st Woodland Community Arrive in Africa. Game drives in a nature reserve on the Kalahari foothills — giraffes, elephants, antelopes and, with a bit of luck, lions. Overnight at tented camp.
2. Shaghuri House on the Zambezi A private lodge on the mighty Zambezi River with pool, yoga deck and sundowner experiences. Arrive, recharge your batteries, get to know the wilderness.
3. Zambezi River & Devils Gorge Boat trip on the Zambezi, wilderness trekking along the Gwai River, wild camp with campfires and Bushman-style fireworks. Encounters with the Tonga people on a cultural hike.
4. Chizarira National Park Zimbabwe's wildest and least developed national park. Trekking through Muchenie Gorge, game drives in search of the famous Chizarira lions, camping in the middle of the wild.
5. Binga & Lake Kariba The largest man-made reservoir in the world stretches for 280 km. Houseboat safari, visit to a remote fishing village, magical nights on the water.
6. Hwange National Park Zimbabwe's oldest and largest national park (15,000 km²). Home to 30,000—40,000 elephants, the Big 5 and over 400 bird species. Exclusive wilderness camps — right in the middle of it instead of just being there.
7. Victoria Waterfalls UNESCO World Heritage Site and worthy conclusion of the trip. 8 million liters of water per second fall 110 meters into the depths. Bicycle tour, visit to the waterfalls, Boma dinner show.

Good to know
Getting there The trip starts and ends at Victoria Falls Airport (VFA). You can arrange flights yourself — we are happy to help via our partner network.
visa Zimbabwe is subject to a visa. The visa is easy to obtain at the entry desk: 30 USD per person, valid for 4 weeks.
lodgings You will spend the night in roof tents, floor tents and permanent accommodation. The camping equipment is provided by Shaghuri Wilderness. We recommend bringing your own sleeping bag and camping pillow.
vehicles Fully equipped off-road safari vehicles including guide and driver. Equipped with radio and satellite telephone for all situations. The vehicles are also driven by guests as self-drives.
rations All-inclusive throughout the tour, including alcoholic drinks. At Shaghuri House, guests are pampered by a chef. Menu requests are gladly accepted.
health The areas along the Zambezi are malaria areas. Please check malaria prophylaxis with a tropical doctor and bring emergency medication. Check health insurance for international coverage.
