Hoada Campsite: Adventure and Tranquility Among Namibia’s Granite Boulders
Nestled among towering granite rocks and ancient mopane trees, Hoada Campsite is a secluded retreat that offers both adventure and tranquility in Namibia’s vast wilderness.

While the elephant and rhino excursions available are highly recommended, we particularly suggest the Damara Cultural Walk—a guided tour led by a local expert. Starting early in the morning, this journey takes you through the surrounding countryside towards a nearby village. Along the way, you’ll learn about local wildlife, unique plant life, and fascinating geological features, as well as the cultural traditions and daily life of the community. Once in the village, you’ll gain insight into traditional medicine, farming techniques, and the resilience required to cultivate crops in the harsh desert environment.
An Unforgettable Arrival
The gravel road from Kamanjab to Hoada Campsite is an adventure in itself. For miles, you’ll feel as though you are completely alone in the vast, silent landscape. The GPS tells you that you’re getting close, but there’s still no sign of the camp—only endless, untouched nature. And then, suddenly, it appears: a campsite perfectly blended into the surrounding granite formations.
Camping in Harmony with Nature
Hoada offers eight private campsites and four tented camps, each seamlessly integrated into the rugged terrain. Every site features a private outdoor shower and toilet, cleverly tucked between the rocks for both privacy and an immersive nature experience. A kitchen area with a sink and BBQ ensures comfort, with the grill doubling as a traditional “donkey” that heats water for your shower.
There is no electricity or WiFi here—just peace, unspoiled nature, and the magic of solitude.
The Perfect End to the Day
Perched on a slightly elevated deck, the camp’s bar and rock pool offer the ideal spot to unwind. As the sun sets, the sky is set ablaze with brilliant hues, casting a golden glow over the landscape. Later, back at your campsite, you can prepare dinner under a canopy of stars, surrounded by the quiet serenity of the wilderness.
Hoada Campsite is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to disconnect, reconnect with nature, and experience Namibia’s untamed beauty in its purest form.
